Special Conditions of Registration

APHA Rule

Since horses registered with the APHA are usually of the same bloodlines as AQHA registered horses, a horse with one APHA parent may be registered with the AHQHR upon submission of a picture of the horse being registered that shows Quarter Horse conformation and certification that the horse is no shorter than 14 hands nor more than 17 hands tall, as measured at its withers.

Sire and dam both AHQHR

Horses with both parents currently registered with the AHQHR are eligible for registration, even though neither parent is registered with AQHA.

Hardship Clause

Upon certification of Quarter Horse conformation, by a licensed veterinarian or an inspector, appointed by the AHQHR, a horse may be registered, if pictures of both the horse being registered and its sire and dam are of Quarter Horse conformation and submitted to and approved by the AHQHR. No horse shorter than 14 hands or more than 17 hands tall, at the withers, may be considered. The applicant must also submit a notarized statement that the horses being presented, are indeed the sire and dam of the horse being registered and an additional $100 inspection fee.
